Transformasi Simpang Tak Bersinyal Menjadi Simpang Bersinyal Untuk Optimalisasi Kinerja Lalu Lintas pada Simpang UMMAT

Abstract


The continuous increase in population and the number of vehicles in Mataram City, along with the growing traffic volume, has become one of the major transportation issues experienced in many regions of Indonesia. One such case occurs at the UMMAT four-legged intersection in Mataram City. This intersection experiences high traffic activity due to its location within an area dominated by educational institutions, commercial activities, and government offices, resulting in the potential for traffic delays, vehicle queues, and traffic conflicts. This study aims to evaluate the changes in intersection into a signalized intersection based on the Indonesian road capacity guidelines (PKJI) 2023. The study employed a quantitative method through geometric and traffic volume surveys, followed by an analysis of intersection performance parameters, including capacity, degree of saturation, delay, and queue length. The analysis results indicate that, under the existing unsignalized condition, the intersection capacity was 3,524 pcu/h, with a degree of saturation of 0.83 and an average delay of 13.96 s/pcu. After the implementation of the traffic signal (APILL) with an optimal cycle time of 66 second, the degree of saturation at each approach decreased to 0.67. These findings indicate that the implementation of Traffic Signal Device (APILL) was able to reduce the degree of saturation, although vehicle delay increased due to signal phase-based traffic control. Therefore, the implementation of Traffic Signal Device (APILL) effectively reduced traffic saturation at the intersection.
